An Invitation to Pause

AI can answer almost anything. The one conversation it can't have for you is the one with yourself.

Information is now instant and free. What stays rare is the time to sit with your own thinking — and decide where you're actually headed.

You'll leave with a practical way to use AI in your work, a clearer understanding of where it creates leverage, and a framework for thinking about what comes next.

More meetings. More notifications. More pressure to keep up.

For one weekend, step away from the noise — to think, and to use AI not just to move faster, but to understand yourself better. This weekend makes the time.

Much of the value is the cohort itself — a small group of experienced professionals, each bringing a different perspective.

Step away — and think.

If everyone has the same AI tools, what makes me different?
How is AI changing the way I work — and the way I learn?
What should I hand to AI — and what should I never give up?
What's the one thing I want to get better at next?
In 2029, what will people still seek me out for?
Am I being intentional — or just keeping up?
Who This Is For

Experienced professionals at an inflection point.

This is not for everyone — and it isn't meant to be. It's for people quietly asking bigger questions about their work and their direction:

Senior managers considering their next chapter Consultants exploring new directions Technology leaders adapting to AI Professionals seeking more intentional careers Founders reassessing what comes next

We intentionally keep each cohort small. Participants are selected to ensure a diverse and thoughtful mix of backgrounds and experiences. No technical background or prior AI experience is required — only curiosity.

The Weekend

Understand AI. Reflect on your work. Design what comes next.

The goal isn't learning faster — it's agency. You'll leave more capable with AI, more intentional about how you learn, and clearer about your future. Expand each session to see what unfolds.

Friday Evening
Navigating the Shift
7:30 – 8:30 PM · over dinner
Just Conversation
+

No slides, no keynote, no icebreakers — just conversation, to ground the room in reality and strip away both the hype and the dread.

We'll get into
  • Quick introductions — what you do, what you're trying to learn, and your one win and one frustration with AI
  • The honest question: as knowledge becomes abundant and instant, what actually becomes the differentiator?
AI won't remove the need to learn — it changes how learning and work happen. This weekend is about understanding the tool, then deciding how you want to use it, and how you don't.
Saturday Morning
Understanding AI & The Sandbox
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Demystify, Then Experiment
+

One unhurried morning, two halves: first a clear, honest mental model of what today's AI is — and isn't — then a guided, low-stakes sandbox to open your laptop and try it for yourself.

First, a working model of the tool
  • Where AI is strong (synthesis, drafting, pattern-finding) and where it isn't (judgment, context, verification)
  • The shift from "oracle" to research assistant, Socratic tutor, and junior analyst
  • Prompting that works — two simple frameworks, learned live, taking one prompt from generic to genuinely useful
Then, your time in the sandbox
  • The Meta-Learning Engine — use a set of carefully designed prompts to turn AI into a tutor, coach, and thought partner for a topic you want to understand more deeply
  • AI for Real Work — bring a real challenge from your current role and explore how AI can help you research, analyze, plan, communicate, or learn more effectively
  • Peer Troubleshooting — work alongside the group to refine prompts, challenge assumptions, and discover new approaches
No coding required. Experiment, explore, and learn by doing — and leave with practical ideas and AI tools you can use immediately.
Saturday Afternoon

Space to Incubate
+

Four unhurried hours that are entirely yours. Close Slack; let the morning settle. A reflection workbook is there if you want it — to use, or to set aside.

Saturday Evening
AI's Impact & Your Human Moat
6:00 – 8:00 PM
The Conversation Most Workshops Skip
+

If AI can write the code, draft the strategy, and analyze the data — what exactly are we paid for? A practical look at where AI creates leverage, and where human judgment becomes even more valuable.

The Leverage Canvas
  • Offload — routine work that drains you and no longer needs your intellect
  • Amplify — high-value work where AI is your thinking partner, many times faster
  • Protect — the human moat: taste, courage, empathy, judgment, the hard conversations
Then the line you won't cross — what you refuse to outsource — and the 2029 question: when competence is free, what will people still seek you out for?
Sunday Morning
Designing What Comes Next
9:00 – 11:00 AM · before brunch
Grounded & Forward-Looking
+

Two days of thinking become one clear direction — and a plan you'll actually keep.

We'll move through
  • Looking back: what surprised you, what shifted in how you think about AI, learning, and your work
  • Choosing one thing — not five — to get better at and apply over the next 90 days
  • Designing a simple weekly rhythm — learn, experiment, apply, reflect — with AI supporting each step
  • A 90-day experiment, written on a single commitment card
  • A closing circle: one insight, one commitment, one experiment
You drive home with agency — and a way to use AI in your real work, not just a list of prompts.
What You'll Leave With

Not a list of prompts — a genuine sense of agency.

A clear mental model of AI

What today's AI is genuinely good at, where it fails, and how to work with it well.

A personal AI toolkit

Practical AI tools and prompts for your real work — research, analysis, planning, communication — ready to use immediately.

A meta-learning engine

A repeatable way to turn AI into a tutor, coach, and thought partner for whatever you want to learn next.

Your Leverage Canvas

Clarity on what to offload, what to amplify with AI, and the human moat to protect.

A 90-day experiment

One focused commitment and a weekly rhythm you'll actually follow.

A room worth keeping

A small circle of thoughtful peers — and the time you rarely give yourself.

The Room

The weekend is only as good as the people in the room. So we curate it carefully.

With only a small cohort each time, who you spend the weekend with matters as much as the conversations themselves. Past and prospective participants include:

Technology leaders Architects Consultants Founders Product leaders Investors Independent professionals

Different fields, different vantage points — a room you'll want to be in long after the weekend ends.

Why Pondicherry

The setting is part of the experience.

Pondicherry has long attracted people seeking a different pace of life. Its beaches, cafés, architecture, and proximity to Auroville create a place that naturally encourages reflection, conversation, and curiosity.

This is not simply where the weekend takes place.

It is part of why it works.

The Investment

Everything is taken care of.

Your focus should be on the experience, not the logistics.

Why I'm Hosting This

Hosted by Sriram Krishnan

Over the last two decades I've worked across banking, analytics, and technology. Like many professionals, I found myself asking bigger questions about AI, work, and what comes next.

This gathering emerged from a simple observation: most of us spend far more time working than thinking about our work. The PauseWork Weekend is an attempt to create that space — and to fill the room with people worth thinking alongside.

Not about predicting the future — about making the space to think clearly about it, in good company, and returning with greater clarity and intention.

Pause. Reflect. Explore.

We keep each cohort small, and read every application personally. If this sounds like your kind of weekend, we'd love to hear from you.
